Orientation
A sincere welcome to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). All of us are excited to have you with us and look forward to your personal and professional success. We know that you had the opportunity to pursue training in some of the most prestigious programs in the country. UPMCMEP has over the years consistently committed to maintain our residencies and fellowships among that select group.
In an effort to make the most efficient use of your time and energy, the Orientation Committee has moved much of the Program to an online module format. This allows you to complete a structured series of presentations and interactive experiences in comfort and remotely.
The purpose of the UPMC SystemWide Orientation Program is to:
- Provide all residents and fellows new to UPMC the core information required to be successful in this environment and culture.
- Outline the resources and systems that are in place to support you in your patient care responsibilities.
- Describe the commitment of all of us to provide the highest quality patient services and care safely for both the individual patients and the providers.
Provide and explain the academic systems that are in place to insure you receive the highest quality medical education and clinical training in a community of scholars.
Please note this Orientation Program is under constant enhancement. We solicit and welcome your suggestions as a legacy to those who follow. Your recommendations of additional topics or other improvements to the Program are valued and considered by the Orientation Committee.
Sincerely yours,
W. Dennis Zerega, EdD
